This year we passed lifesaving legislation to combat the opioid crisis here in Connecticut. We will soon have one of the most comprehensive laws in the nation to prevent and treat opioid abuse. It is important to understand what led us to pass this groundbreaking legislation. The 2016 Survey of Small Businesses, released last week by the Connecticut Business & Industry Association found that 60% of Connecticut small businesses will be hiring this year. MOURNING THE LOSS OF OUR COLLEAGUE, MARY FRITZ
Today we mourn the loss of our own Mary Fritz, who died Saturday of cancer. Mary was one of our longest-serving legislators, having first served in 1982, then retaking her seat in 1986. She served her district of Wallingford and Cheshire ever since. READ MORE

THE VETERAN'S FIRST ACT
Rep. Loni Reed is proud to stand with Branford Mom Sarah Greene and Senator Richard Blumenthal to urge passage of the Veteran's First Act. Sarah was left alone to raise her two young children when her husband, Lt Col David Greene USMC, was killed in Iraq.
