SCHOOL READINESS, WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PILOT PROGRAM

“I am thrilled to be a co-chair of this new, important program and look forward to beginning our work,” Currey said. “The goal of the program is to foster academic success in children and economic self-sufficiency in parents by adopting a two-generational model for delivery of support services to low-income households,” Currey said.

“For many years, largely due to isolated thinking and separate funding streams for children and adult programs, policies affecting children and their parents have been funded as discrete and separate from each other. Connecticut, the first state to have a comprehensive plan for the 2-generational approach, will make efforts to simplify service delivery while addressing quality, accountability and diverse participation in the work of helping to end the cycle of multi-generational need through the promotion of self-sufficiency,” Currey said.
