Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to represent you and the 11th Assembly District at our state’s capital. My freshman year in the legislature came with its fair share of challenges and equally amazing opportunities. I was appointed to four committees: Appropriations, Education, Judiciary and Insurance & Real Estate - a workload unlike any other freshman in our caucus.

These appointments allowed me to gain knowledge in a variety of subject matters, and work directly with leadership to be in a better position to represent you. In addition, I was able to build upon my past experiences in both the public and private sector to make the decisions that will, in the long run, be of benefit to you and our communities.

I was provided the opportunity to take out and debate my first bill on the floor
of the House of Representatives, Senate Bill 795 “An Act Concerning A
Two-Generational School Readiness And Workforce Development Pilot Program.” This proposed bill received overwhelming support from both sides of the aisle and was later passed as part of a larger piece of legislation. Due to my work on this initiative, I was selected by the Speaker of the House to co-chair the pilot program, an opportunity rarely afforded to a freshman legislator. Due to the importance of this work, I was recently awarded the “2015 Children’s Champion” award by the CT Early Childhood Alliance.

This session I was also awarded the Connecticut Council of Family Service Agencies “Legislator of the Year” award. This is the first time in their 27 year history that they have bestowed this honor on a freshman legislator. I am extremely humbled by the recognition from these groups and it only pushes me harder to continue to work and fight for you – my friends, my neighbors and fellow residents of the great State of Connecticut.

The most important task throughout session and moving forward will be to listen to you and respond to your concerns. Please know that your voices are valued and you may reach out to me at any time at my home, 860-528-8822.

My door at the State Capitol is always open!
