Dear Neighbor:

I am happy to report that Farmington and Unionville fared quite well in the recently concluded legislative session.

Our town will receive an additional $700,000 in PILOT (Payment in Lieu of Taxes) funding from the state in the upcoming fiscal year, and an overall increase of almost $800,000 in state grants. This increase from $5.4 million to $6.2 million will help to keep our local property taxes down.

In addition, Farmington was awarded a $500,000 STEAP (Small Town Economic Assistance Program) grant, to be used for the installation of a new, environmentally-friendly athletic field at Farmington High School.

I was proud to introduce and champion legislation that allows towns to petition the Department of Public Health for an upgrade in their ambulance service provider. This new law will result in faster response times, better service for families in Farmington and Unionville and save taxpayer dollars.

Many water customers in Farmington will benefit from reduced water bills with representation on the Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) Board as a result of legislation I introduced.

Please contact me at any time to share your concerns. It is my privilege to serve as your representative in the legislature.

Sincerely,
