REP. DILLON SEEKS ANSWERS
FROM FEDERAL HOMELAND SECURITY OFFICIALS
Feds remain tight-lipped on decision to cut funding for New Haven Harbor

Fueled by concerns over the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s decision to cut funding for New Haven Harbor, Representative Patricia Dillon (D-New Haven) asked pointed questions to Homeland Security officials during a Friday conference call.

"The silence was deafening when I asked about funding for New Haven Harbor. I expressed my concerns and asked them to explain the rationale behind their decision to revoke New Haven Harbor’s ‘high-risk’ designation and accompanying funding," Rep. Dillon said. "They evaded the question, by saying they wanted to add ‘granularity’ to the process I’m still seeking their definition of ‘granularity.’ I vowed to work with the governor, state officials and our congressional delegation in a bipartisan manner to restore this vital funding."

New Haven Harbor is a commercial shipping hub and is home to one of the nation’s largest reserves of home heating oil.

Rep. Dillon was participating in a special forum on Homeland Security sponsored by the National Conference of State Legislatures.

Representative Dillon was first elected to the General Assembly in 1984. She is Deputy Majority Whip and serves on the Public Health, Appropriations and Judiciary Committees. Rep. Dillon chairs the Health and Hospitals Subcommittee on Appropriations.
