LEGISLATION WOULD AID SCSU’S ABILITY TO RAISE MONEY
Original concept drafted by Rep. Dillon

Representative Patricia Dillon (D-New Haven) hailed the legislature’s Higher Education Committee for raising a bill to restore the formula for matching donations to endowment funds to the level of the match for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2005.

Rep. Dillon drafted the language on which the committee bill is based because she believed changes made in 2005 had a negative impact on Southern Connecticut State University.

“Changes made in the Appropriations Committee last year hurt Southern’s ability to raise money,” Rep. Dillon said. “I am very pleased the committee chairs agreed with the merits of my proposal, raised a bill and will hold a public hearing.”

The date and time of the public hearing have yet to be determined.

Representative Dillon was first elected to the General Assembly in 1984. She is an Assistant Majority Leader and serves on the Higher Education and Judiciary committees.
