REP. DILLON TO DOT: HALT WHALLEY WIDENING

Representative Patricia Dillon (D-New Haven) is asking the State Department of Transportation (DOT) to delay going to bid on design work for the Whalley Avenue street widening project until they hold a meeting in New Haven to talk about traffic safety and calming measures associated with the project.

Rep. Dillon said, "The citizens of New Haven and the state can work together on common sense measures to improve safety on Whalley Avenue. We all want to make sure that safety is the top priority as we move forward."

Rep. Dillon also asked the city of New Haven and DOT to provide data on "hot spots" along Whalley Avenue to further prevent accidents and improve safety.

Representative Dillon was first elected to the General Assembly in 1984. She is an Assistant Majority Leader and serves on the Appropriations, Higher Education and Judiciary committees.
