REP. DILLON ANNOUNCES APPROVAL OF $2 MILLION GRANT
TO HELP OWNERS OF ‘SINKING HOMES’ IN NEW HAVEN

State Rep. Patricia Dillon (D-New Haven) announced the State Bond Commission’s approval Friday of a $2 million grant to help owners of New Haven’s “sinking homes.”

“I am absolutely happy,” said Rep. Dillon. “This is a new day for the homeowners. We can begin to plan now to help people and create jobs for our area contractors.

The homes, located near the West River in the Beverly Hills section of Westville, are experiencing cracked and sinking foundations, garage floors and basements. Portions of the structures are separating as the homes continue to sink into the ground.

The grant-in-aid in the amount of $2 million will aid homeowners in Westville section of New Haven and also the town of Woodbridge.
