FOREST ROAD: FROM HORSE PATH TO HEAVILY TRAVELED STATE ROAD
Dillon wants state funds for Route 122 drainage project

Representative Pat Dillon has filed legislation to secure state funding to replace undersized storm sewer pipes and improve drainage along Forest Road (Route 122) from Chapel Street to Edgewood Avenue in New Haven.

"Forest Road was a 19th century horse path that became a state road without planning or infrastructure," Rep. Dillon said. "The road drainage system can't handle water from even moderate rainstorms."

Rep. Dillon noted the 10 inch drain pipes under Route 122 are undersized and the road was not designed for the current volume of traffic.

"Forest Road, right now, is dangerous," Rep. Dillon said. "The drainage issues are putting property and human lives at risk."

Rep. Dillon is seeking 2.5 million in state bond funds for the project.
