REP. PAT DILLON ANNOUNCES FUNDING FOR JOBS
AND SAFETY IN WESTVILLE VILLAGE

Representative Pat Dillon noted the state Bond Commission is poised to approve funding to improve the walk-ability, safety and infrastructure in Westville Village. The $424,227 “traffic-calming” initiative is on the agenda and expected to be approved at the Commission’s meeting next Friday.

“The people who live and work near this section of Whalley Avenue have worked incredibly hard to make it a brand and destination,” Rep. Dillon said. “Thank you Governor Malloy for supporting safety and jobs in Westville Village.”

There are currently almost 400 jobs in this part of the Whalley Avenue corridor and Dillon believes the investment will spur further growth.

“Traffic flow plays a major part in the quality of life in our communities, influencing everything from economic development to pedestrian safety,” said Governor Dannel P. Malloy. “This investment will bring in more business, create jobs and make Westville a more livable, walkable and pedestrian friendly center of commerce, entertainment and retail.”

“This is an example of the state supporting a local initiative,” Rep Dillon said. “I testified on the issue with some of our Westville neighbors back in February of 2012.”
