NH REGISTER: OFFICIALS LAUD LAW THAT ALLOWS
HIGHER FINED FOR NEW HAVEN DIRT BIKE RIDERS

It’s going to be a lot harder for riders of illegal dirt bikes to hop back on their bikes come October. Gov. Dannel Malloy signed a new dirt bike bill into law that allows municipalities to increase fines up to $1,000 for the first offense.

State Rep. Pat Dillon, D-New Haven, proposed the bill, which originally called for a maximum fine of up to $2,000. Some lawmakers felt $2,000 was too steep and a compromise was worked out for a tiered system, Dillon said.
