SINKING HOMES GET HELPING HAND

After an eight-year battle where homeowners fought for the future of their neighborhood, Rep. Pat Dillon joined Sen. Toni Harp to brief neighbors on available state funding that will shore up New Haven’s “sinking houses.” The homes, in the Beverly Hills neighborhood of Westville, have been experiencing foundation damage and other serious issues since 2005, when Rep Dillon first filed legislation to assist residents.

First Bridget Gardner heard water rushing underneath her house. Then she noticed her windows cracking. Her doors stopped shutting right, and the sinkhole in her front lawn kept getting bigger.

On Monday, she heard her state representative, Pat Dillon, announce that help is on the way.
