NEW HAVEN JOBS AT RISK WITH AT&T'S LANDLINE SALE

I have grave concerns about AT&T's plan to sell its landline business to Frontier Communications (read it in the Register and Forbes). Although I recognize the realities of today's business climate, it is my understanding that there are 1200 jobs at stake in New Haven.

So long as there are two Connecticuts – urban and suburban – core cities are at a disadvantage and will continue to see job flight driven by decisions made by state policymakers. For example, the state Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) approved moving New Haven UI jobs to the suburbs.

I am urging PURA to evaluate the economic impact on New Haven as they review AT&T's proposal.
