BILLS TO HELP NEW HAVEN CLEAR HURDLE

The Commerce Committee acted favorably on two bills Rep. Dillon authored with Sen. Martin Looney to restore homes in our neighborhoods.

The Historic Homes Tax Credit bill was approved with substitute language by the Commerce Committee, putting its stamp of approval on making the program more accessible to New Haven residents.

Commerce also approved a bill to raise the annual cap on the Neighborhood Assistance Act from five million dollars to ten million dollars.

Dollar amounts in both bills will be subject to budget talks. As they move forward in the process, the bills may be acted on separately or may be rolled into a larger budget bill. This week's committee action advances the policies.
