ARMY CORPS AGREES TO REP. PAT DILLON'S REQUEST FOR HEARING

common ground

The Army Corps of Engineers’ proposed plan for dumping Long Island Sound dredging material in New Haven waters in Morris Cove will now have a public hearing in New Haven. Hearings were originally held in New London and Stamford until Rep. Pat Dillon requested a local hearing through state officials with the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

Rep. Dillon requested the hearing through DEEP due to the density of the proposal (over 1000 pages) and her concerns about the West River Watershed, Long Island Sound Estuary and Morris Cove.

This week Rep. Dillon heard back from DEEP that the Army Corps will hold an additional hearing on Sept. 17 at the Omni-New Haven Hotel at Yale.

Speakers can start signing up at 5:30 p.m. with a presentation scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

The public comment period to the Army Corps of Engineers extends through Oct. 5. Mail your comments so that they will be received in Concord, MA on or before October 5th. Comments can be sent to:
