REP. GENGA APPOINTED TO EDUCATION,
ENERGY, AND LABOR COMMITTEES

Hartford, CT—Speaker of the House James A. Amann (D-Milford) appointed State Representative Henry Genga (D-East Hartford) to the Connecticut General Assembly’s education, energy, and labor committees on the first day of the 2006 legislative session, February 8th.

“I am honored to sit on these committees,” said Rep. Genga. “I am looking forward to the challenge of resolving some of the major issues involving education, energy, and labor.”

Genga, 66, a business teacher at East Hartford High School, fills the 10th Assembly District seat left by former Representative Melody Currey. Genga has served on East Hartford’s town council from 1975 to 1985 and from 2003 to present. He has also served as Commissioner of the Metropolitan District Commission, Chairman of the Emergency Medical Commission, and Chairman of Investigations and Audit Committee and Retirement Board, among other political appointments and elected positions.

“As a teacher and with his work on East Hartford’s town council, Rep. Genga’s past involvement with these issues makes him a perfect choice to sit on these committees,” Amann said.
