EAST HARTFORD LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION TO HEAR
PUBLIC’S COMMENTS REGARDING NEW VOTING MACHINES

The East Hartford legislative delegation of state Sen. Gary D. LeBeau (D-3) and Reps. Michael A. Christ (D-11), Henry Genga (D-10) and Christopher R. Stone (D-9) will be available to hear comments from the public regarding the new optical scan voting machines, used during the November 7 elections, on Tuesday, December 12 prior to the scheduled Town Council meeting.

East Hartford was one of 25 towns in the state chosen by the Office of the Secretary of the State to use the new optical scan voting technology before it becomes used statewide during the 2007 elections. The optical scan machines replaced the more familiar lever machines during last month’s election.

State Rep. Michael Christ said, “It is important to not only make certain that each vote is counted, but to also ensure that every citizen feels comfortable when using the new machines. If there was any confusion or intimidation, we want to be aware of that before the technology goes statewide next year.”

Members of the public are invited to discuss their experiences using the new voting machines with the delegation from 6-7 PM on December 12 in the Old Council Chambers on the 2nd floor of the Town Hall.
