LEGISLATORS SECURE FUNDING
FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO EAST HARTFORD PARKS

State Representatives Michael A. Christ (D-East Hartford), Christopher Stone (D-East Hartford), and Henry Genga (D-East Hartford) along with State Senator Gary D. LeBeau (D-East Hartford) announced today that the State Bond Commission has approved an allocation of $500,000 to be used for park improvements throughout the Town of East Hartford.

Items up for possible consideration for the funds include various items such as the Dwyer Park parking lot project, tennis courts at McAuliffe Park, dugout repairs at Woodland Park, a football scoreboard for the field at Lower Goodwin, Little League improvements at McAuliffe and Gorman Parks, a new pool filter at McAuliffe Park, the pavement of roads and parking at Gorman and Martin Parks, and the replacement of lockers at Terry Pool.

The members of the East Hartford legislative delegation have been strong advocates of securing this funding for improvements to the town’s parks.

“I am very pleased to report that these improvements are in sight for the Town of East Hartford,” Rep. Christ said. “By getting these funds approved, we can help residents and their children have a safe activity place for recreation, sport, and exercise.”

“One of the most important parts of this job is to bring home the bacon,” Rep. Stone said. “I’m proud that this delegation has been able to do that on a consistent basis and help East Hartford get its share of the pie.”

"The importance of this funding being used for a variety of parks purposes, instead of just Martin Park, cannot be underestimated," Sen. LeBeau said. "By spreading this funding around we are helping more people from different parts of town enjoy more time outdoors. I'm grateful to the State Bond Commission for making this important and much-needed change."

“This money will touch many needs that impact family activities in our town,” Rep. Genga continues.  “These are the kind of services that make our community stronger and will also help keep kids off the streets.”
