REPRESENTATIVES CHRIST, GENGA AND STONE ANNOUNCE
OVER $7 MILLION IN STATE BONDING FOR EAST HARTFORD PROJECTS

Representatives Michael Christ (D-East Hartford, South Windsor), Henry Genga (D-East Hartford) and Chris Stone (D-East Hartford) announced today two projects totaling $7.35 million are scheduled to be passed by the State Bond Commission when they meet next Wednesday.

“I am very pleased that the State Bond Commission is poised to approve this significant amount of money to our facilities in East Hartford and South Windsor,” Rep. Christ said. “This funding will provide much-needed relief to the hard working employees of our area group homes, and make possible vital improvements to our infrastructure in the vicinity around Rentschler Field.”

According to the first bonding item, two group homes, one in East Hartford and the other in South Windsor, will be among four locations statewide that will receive $350,000 for flooring and kitchen upgrades.

“I am delighted that the Governor included these funds in the upcoming bond agenda. They will make a significant difference in supporting much needed services that include important local projects, beneficial to all our residents,” Rep. Genga stated.

“I am pleased to have been able to work with the delegation on these important bond items that will be of great benefit to East Hartford,” Rep. Stone said. “This is an example of what can be accomplished when colleagues combine their efforts to best represent their constituencies.”

A second item that will be sent to the Commission on Wednesday is a $7 million state grant that will fund road work and transportation improvements either at, or near, Rentschler Field. Home to the 2007 Big East Conference co-Champion UConn Huskies, these developments are required for the continued development of the property and will result in a benefit to the stadium.
