REP. HENRY GENGA WELCOMES PILOT PROGRAM
TO EAST HARTFORD COMMUNITY HEALTHCARE

State Rep. Henry Genga (D-East Hartford) welcomed funding approval of a pilot program that will expand access to specialty care services for underserved populations in East Harford and its neighboring communities of Manchester and Vernon. The item has been successfully approved for funding by the State Department of Social Services.

The measure calls for $50,000 to implement a one-year pilot project to provide specialty services to East Hartford Community HealthCare, Inc. patients, whose access to specialty services such as gastroenterology and orthopedic is limited.

"Being able to provide affordable healthcare to Connecticut's residents is an on-going priority that we are constantly looking to tackle in the General Assembly," Rep. Genga stated. "I am thrilled to see this request moving forward in the process, thanks to the support and team effort of State Rep. John Thompson and Senator Mary Ann Handley. It is my understanding that this program will later be evaluated to provide additional funding for these specialty services."

Rep. Henry Genga is serving his second term in the General Assembly representing East Hartford's 10th Assembly District. He is Vice Chair of the Education Committee and member of the Appropriations and Energy and Technology Committee.
