REP. GENGA NAMED ASSISTANT MAJORITY LEADER
AND VICE CHAIR OF APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE

Rep. Henry Genga (D-East Hartford) has been chosen by House Speaker Christopher G. Donovan (D-Meriden) to serve as vice chairman of the Appropriations Committee and as Assistant Majority Leader for a second term.

“I am honored that Speaker Donovan asked me to continue to be a part of his leadership team and to serve as vice chairman on such an important committee as appropriations,” Rep. Genga said.

“There’s no question that our state is facing many challenges right now. My number one priority will be to assist the legislature in passing legislation that will create new jobs in the state, maintain the ones that are currently here and grow the economy,” Genga said. “I’d like to thank the Speaker for asking me to serve in these roles and I look forward to working in a bipartisan manner as we meet to tackle these issues.”

The appropriations committee has oversight of all matters relating to appropriations and the budgets of state agencies. Other issues under the committee's jurisdiction include matters relating to state employees' salaries, benefits and retirement, teachers' retirement and veterans' pensions and collective bargaining agreements and arbitration awards for all state employees.
