DOT OFFICIALS ANNOUNCE ROAD PROJECTS

The state Department of Transportation has issued the following announcement of planned road construction in East Hartford.

Work is scheduled to restart on the southbound section of the Charter Oak Bridge, which carries Route 15 over the Connecticut River between East Hartford and Hartford.

The work will require closure of the East River Drive on-ramp between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. from Monday, March 30, through Friday, May 15. The ramp and lane closures are required to complete repairs to the approach area and bridge joints. Work has been restricted due to the weather conditions and is expected to be completed in May 2015.

Lane Closure Information:

Daytime operations:
Tuesday and Wednesday between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
All other times during the day only shoulder closures allowed

Night operations:
Monday and Tuesday between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. the next day
Wednesday and Thursday, 8:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
Friday, 9:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. Saturday
Saturday, 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 a.m. Sunday
Sunday, 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Monday

East River Drive On-Ramp Closure and Detour
Signs will be in place to detour traffic to I-91 South and Route 5/15 south via the Silver Lane entrance ramp

Note: No construction activity will occur during the Easter Holiday period from 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 2, to 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 6.
