REP. JOHNSON DEMANDS GOV. RELEASE ROAD FUNDS FOR WINDHAM

State Representative Susan Johnson today called on Governor Rell to release millions in state aid to Connecticut towns for funding local paving projects and road repairs.

“The governor should release these funds today,” said Representative Johnson. “Holding back this money is destroying Windham's budget and jeopardizing projects planned for the town.”

Due to the current budget deficit, the governor held back $30 million in Town Aid Road (TAR) Grants. Windham's TAR grant was $179,861 last year.

Representative Johnson added, “Town Road grants put people to work and it is vital that the state invests in job creation.”

Towns usually receive TAR funding in January and July each year.

Representative Susan Johnson is serving her first term representing the 49th Assembly District in Windham. She serves on the Education, Energy & Technology, and Finance Revenue & Bonding Committees.
