REP. JOHNSON ANNOUNCES STATE
TO RELEASE FUNDING FOR LOCAL ROADS

State Representative Susan Johnson announced today that Windham is expected to receive $180,821 from the state in Town Aid Road (TAR) funds to make improvements to Windham's roads and infrastructure.

The funds are expected to be approved at the State Bond Commission meeting on Tuesday, March 16, and are expected to be delivered to Windham within 2-4 weeks.

“These grants will provide much needed funding to Windham. It is good to remember that the Democrats' added TAR to this budget so that these funds will become a reality for our municipalities. Funds from the state to maintain our roads help keep local property taxes down. Well maintained roads are also good for economic development. These funds will make our communities and state stronger. While the Republican members of the legislature voted against the budget and Governor Rell didn't sign it, we are grateful that the governor has put this money on the agenda and plans to move the state forward by voting to send the TAR funds to Windham and other communities in our state” said Rep. Johnson.

Johnson added, “Town road grants put people to work and I am committed to fighting for state investments in job creation.”

TAR funds are typically released in January but were delayed by the governor this year.

Representative Susan Johnson is serving her first term representing the 49th Assembly District in Windham. She serves on the Education, Energy & Technology, and Finance Revenue & Bonding Committees.
