WINDHAM TO RECEIVE STATE FUNDING FOR ROAD IMPROVEMENTS

State Representative Susan Johnson announced that the town of Windham is expected to receive state funding for road improvements.

The State Bond Commission is meeting Friday and is expected to approve the first half of the 2012-13 town aid road grant in the amount of $15 million. Windham’s portion of the allocation is $101,105.

Rep. Johnson said a second similar grant will follow at the end of the year.

“I know that there are streets and roads all over Windham that need attention, and this grant will help the town to pay for repaving them,” said Rep. Johnson.

Also known as TAR, Town Aid for Roads grants are generally released in January and July each year. The state grant funds allocated are used locally for safety issues, design work and repaving.

The State Bond Commission meets Friday, July 27 at 10:30 a.m. in room 1E of the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.
