REP. JOHNSON ANNOUNCES GRANT FOR
EDUCATION TECHNOLOGY IMPROVEMENTS

State Representative Susan Johnson announced the State Bond Commission's approval of funds for improvements at Windham Technical High School in Windham at the Commission's November 19th meeting. The school is expected to receive $942,993 from a pair of items on the agenda.

"We are pleased to offer new opportunities to support technology-related expenditures, school improvement and additional resources," said Governor Dannel P. Malloy. "Investing in our educational infrastructure is an essential step in our effort to ensure that children have the skills they need to succeed in the 21st Century."

"I am happy Governor Malloy is continuing the effort to improve Windham schools and have a positive impact on the education gap," Rep. Johnson said. "I know these funds will be put to good use for the benefit of our students."

Windham Technical High School will receive funding for the purchase and installation of new and replacement equipment at Technical High School Facilities as part of the Manufacturing Cluster expansion. They will also receive funding for emergency and minor capital improvement projects as needed.

The funds will be administered through the Department of Education.

The State Bond Commission met Wednesday morning in Room 1E of the Legislative Office Building. Windham Technical High School is included in items 33 & 35 on the agenda.
