REP. ROJAS NAMED VICE CHAIR
OF FINANCE, REVENUE AND BONDING COMMITTEE

House Speaker Christopher G. Donovan (D-Meriden) has chosen Rep. Jason Rojas to serve as vice chairman of the influential Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee.

“The Finance Committee is responsible for setting state tax policy that encourages economic growth and a healthy business environment while still providing services that taxpayers expect and depend on. The committee’s work will be critically important to the recovery our state economy,” Rojas said Monday. “We look forward to working with Governor Malloy and our Republican colleagues to address the challenges we have before us as a state.”

The committee has jurisdiction over all matters relating to finance, revenue, capital bonding, fees and taxation. The committee also has cognizance over employer contributions for unemployment compensation and all matters relating to the Department of Revenue Services and the revenue aspects of the Division of Special Revenue.

Rojas was also re-appointed to the Planning and Development Committee and was added to the General Assembly’s Education Committee. Rojas requested his committee assignments because they allow him to work on issues important to the 9th District.

Rep. Rojas was recently re-elected to his second term and is looking forward to getting to work. “My first term provided tremendous opportunities to work on major policy initiatives in finance, education and government reform as well as domestic violence and healthcare. I appreciate the opportunity to take an expanded leadership role developing important state policy.”
