REP. RYAN WELCOMES STATE ACTION TO PRESERVE FARM LAND
Franklin’s Blue Slope Farm Benefits From State Bond Commission Vote

State Representative Kevin Ryan welcomed approval by the State Bond Commission of $1.08 million to purchase land at two farms including the Blue Slope Farm in Franklin.

"These additions to the state’s farmland preservation program is certainly good news for everyone involved," Rep. Ryan said. "This precious land will remain in private ownership and will not be developed. That’s a win for the dairy farmers and for the entire community."

Rep. Ryan noted that the Blue Slope Farm in Franklin which includes an agricultural museum "and preserving the museum in addition to the land is vital for our farming heritage and as an educational resource."

Rep. Ryan, who has supported legislation to expand open space and farmland preservation, said the acquisition of the development rights for Blue Slope Farms and the Stalzer Farm in Woodstock was an example "of state government acting in the best interests of future generations."

Rep. Ryan, serving in his fourth term in the General Assembly, represents the towns of Franklin, Bozrah, Montville and Lebanon.
