REP. RYAN HONORED BY LUNG ASSOCIATION

State Representative Kevin Ryan has been recognized by the American Lung Association of Connecticut for his work to clean up the air in the state. Rep. Ryan was presented with the Lung Association’s Breath of Life award during a ceremony Thursday night.

"The American Lung Association of Connecticut is dedicated to the prevention of lung disease and the promotion of lung health. Based on strong leadership in the area of public health, the annual Breath of Life award was given to Rep. Ryan. With his help, the American Lung Association of Connecticut can continue its fight against big tobacco, bad air, and the asthma epidemic," said John Zinn, President/CEO, American Lung Association of Connecticut.

Rep Ryan fought for passage of new regulations for the state’s dirtiest power plants and has supported important legislation to clean the air we breathe - including the law to reduce toxic emissions from sewage sludge incinerators.

"Cleaning the air is one of the best ways to ensure a healthy future for our children and grandchildren, but it is just one step," Rep Ryan said. "This is a war with many fronts. We must continue to target polluters to clean up the environment and we must put an end to teen smoking."
