REP. RYAN HAILED BY CONNECTICUT EYE PHYSICIANS
The Connecticut Society of Eye Physicians (CSEP) honored Representative Kevin Ryan during a ceremony June 3rd in Southington.
CSEP said Rep. Ryan was recognized for his leadership and commitment to public health and safety. Rep. Ryan was a chief proponent of legislation to limit the sale of cosmetic contact lenses. Under the bill, cosmetic contact lenses (nonprescription contact lenses with colors or patterns) may be sold at retail only under the supervision of a licensed optician and in a registered optical establishment, office, or store.
Rep. Ryan said, “Consumer safety was the driving force behind this bill. Licensed professionals, not untrained clerks, should dispense contact lenses. I am proud to be recognized for my work on this legislation.”
Kevin Ryan, the state representative from the 139th District, represents the towns of Bozrah, Franklin, Lebanon and Montville. He is House chair of the Labor and Public Employees Committee.
