REPRESENTATIVE RYAN APPOINTED TO THE COUNCIL OF STATE GOVERNMENTS’ EASTERN REGIONAL AGRICULTURAL COMMITTEE

Representative Kevin Ryan was appointed to the Council of State Governments’ Eastern Regional Agricultural Committee by Speaker of the House James Amann (D-Milford) last Tuesday.

“As speaker of the House, I have the privilege to choose the members from our chamber to serve on the Council of State Governments’ Eastern Regional Conference committees and boards for the calendar years 2007 and 2008,” Amann said in a letter. “As such, it is my pleasure to inform you that you have been appointed to the Agricultural Committee. I am confident that you will work successfully with other state leaders to put the best ideas and solutions into practict.”

“I am deeply honored to be named to this committee by the Speaker,” Ryan said. “I look forward to being a productive member of this committee by contributing and learning new ideas in the field of Agriculture.”

The Council of State Governments was founded in 1933 with the purpose of alerting, “state elected and appointed officials to emerging social, economic and political trends,” according to the web site. The organization also, “offers innovative state policy responses to rapidly changing conditions; and advocates multi-state problem-solving to maximize resources and competitiveness.”

As early as this week Rep. Ryan will be meeting with representatives of the group in preparation for his new role on the Agriculture Committee.

Representative Ryan currently serves as the chairman of the Labor committee and is a member of Appropriations and Public Health committees.
