STATE EXTENDS TAX CREDIT TO WORKING POOR
By Kala Kachmar, Norwich Bulletin
The state has implemented a new income tax credit that will help about 200,000 low-income families and individuals, according to a release from state Rep. Kevin Ryan, D-Montville.
Ryan has been working to get the Connecticut Earned Income Tax Credit included in the state budget for the past few years, the news release said.
Workers earning less than $50,000 who are raising children and single workers without children who earned less than $13,460 will qualify for the tax credit. The average payment will be $540, with a maximum payment of $1,700.
