REP. RYAN WELCOMES LOCAL BOND FUNDS
Grant rewards regional cooperation

State Representative Kevin Ryan welcomes the State Bond Commission’s expected approval of funding for the region. An item on the commission’s agenda for its Monday meeting provides funding for a regional purchase aimed at saving money for the cooperating municipalities.

"This is the type of cooperation our state needs to transition toward," said Rep. Ryan. "By working together and sharing resources, we save taxpayers money."

The bonding grant is a result of the Inter-town Capital Equipment Purchase Incentive Program established to provide grants to municipalities to jointly acquire equipment and vehicles necessary to the performance or delivery of a required governmental function or service. The law allowing the cooperation was approved by the legislature in October 2011.

The grant for is for a regional purchase involving Sprague, Bozrah, Franklin and Lebanon. A bucket truck, brush chipper, over-the-rail mower, grapple bucket pay-loader and catch basin cleaner will be shared among the town thanks to the expected $250,000 grant.

Lebanon will also share in a separate group purchase with Coventry, Chaplin, Columbia, Mansfield, Windham and Willington. Two pavement recyclers, skid steer and tilt-top trailer will be shared following a $90,698 grant.

Rep. Ryan is in his tenth term serving the 139th House District
