NORWICH LEGISLATORS WELCOME BOND FUNDS

Representative’s Ryan, Sear and Riley welcome the State Bond Commission’s expected approval of funding for Norwich. A pair of items on the Commission’s upcoming agenda provides over $1 million for the Norwich school system and its senior center.

“I’m pleased I was able to help secure these state funds for Norwich’s seniors. As the senior population continues to grow, we need to ensure that the town has the resources needed to serve and support our seniors,” said Rep. Ryan.

“I am thrilled that Norwich will be receiving funding for technology upgrades so our children can learn the skills needed for real world success,” said Rep. Riley.

“Students deserve to have an up-to-date school that complies with state standards,” said Rep. Sear.

The City of Norwich will receive $690,000 for upgrades at the Rose City Senior Center. Renovations include a new roof, flooring and exterior improvements.

The city will also receive $462,841 to provide grants-in-aid to local and regional school districts for technology wiring upgrades in order to meet the requirements of Common Core. (www.corestandards.org/the-standards)
