State Representative Kevin Ryan applauds the State Department of Transportation (DOT) plans to permanently repair a retaining wall on Route 12 on North Main Street in Norwich.

“I am happy to see that plans are being made to address this dangerous condition,” said Representative Ryan. “I’d like to thank the DOT for their efforts to address the safety issues with residents living in that immediate area."

The purpose of the project is to provide a permanent fix to the failed 14-feet to 17-feet tall retaining wall located on North Main Street, just north of Fifteenth Street.

This project follows the temporary stabilization measures implemented by the department’s maintenance crews.

The design portion will be completed this spring, with construction anticipated to start late next year, assuming acceptance of the project, availability of funding and receipt of any required right-of-way. This project will be paid for with state funds.
