REP. WALKER APPOINTED TO SERVE ON
COUNCIL OF STATE GOVERNMENTS COMMITTEE
Speaker of the House James Amann (D-Milford) today announced that State Representative Toni Walker has been appointed to serve on the Criminal Justice Board of Advisors Committee of the Council of State Government’s Eastern Regional Conference.
The Criminal Justice Board of Advisors Committee assists state policy makers across all levels of state government. The program works with the Eastern Regional Conference member jurisdictions to: evaluate, develop and promote innovative state and regional criminal justice policy, facilitate the sharing of expertise and knowledge, evaluate new programs and trends, and improve the effectiveness of the adult and juvenile criminal justice systems.
“Toni is a tireless advocate for juvenile justice and is working on several related initiatives this legislative session,” Speaker Amann said. “Her appointment complements her area of focus and I am sure she will be an asset to the committee.”
“It is an honor to be selected to serve on this committee,” Rep. Walker said. “I will work with this committee to promote ideas that will hopefully bring about a change in the manner in which Connecticut’s justice system relates to and defines juveniles.”
Established in 1933, the Council of State Governments is a non-partisan, public, non-profit organization that provides information, research, and training to state officials in all 50 states and U.S. territories.
Representative Walker represents New Haven’s 93rd Assembly District and serves on the Appropriations, Human Services and Judiciary and Legislative Management Committees. Rep. Walker also Co-Chairs the General Assembly’s Juvenile Justice Planning and Implementation Committee.
