NEW HAVEN DISTRIBUTES $500,000 IN STATE GRANTS TO YOUTH VIOLENCE PREVENTION PROGRAMS

The state has invested heavily in education, anti-bullying and anti-violence programs. We are heading in the right direction but we must continue to work hard to steer youth to a better path and intervene early as a family and community.

New Haven is receiving a $500,000 grant from the state to fund:

According to the CDC, homicide is the number two cause of death of CT youths, right behind accidental death.

 In Connecticut, from 2008 to 2010, homicide was the second leading cause of death among those ages 10 to 24 years, accounting for 132 deaths.
