State Representative Larry B. Butler announced the State Bond Commission’s approval of funds for improvements at Walsh School in Waterbury at the November 19th meeting.
“We are pleased to offer new opportunities to support technology-related expenditures, school improvement and additional resources,” said Governor Dannel P. Malloy. “Investing in our educational infrastructure is an essential step in our effort to ensure that children have the skills they need to succeed in the 21st Century.”
“I am pleased Governor Malloy is continuing the effort to improve Waterbury schools and have a positive impact on the education gap,” Rep. Butler said. “I know these funds will be put to good use for the benefit of our students.”
Walsh School will receive $200,000 to provide for alterations, repairs, improvements, technology and equipment to help address building and site deficiencies, and to promote the health, safety, and learning of the students.
The funds will be administered through the Department of Education as part of a grants package to assist low-performing schools in seventeen Commissioner’s Network Schools in targeted local and regional districts.
The State Bond Commission met Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in Room 1E of the Legislative Office Building. Walsh School is included in item 18 on the agenda.
Rep. Butler is in his 4th term serving the 72nd House District in Waterbury.
