CANDELARIA ANNOUNCES FUTURE FUNDING
FOR NEW HAVEN TRANSPORTATION PROJECTS
State Representative Juan Candelaria (D-New Haven) Monday announced the House and Senate passage of a state transportation-bonding package that would bring in hundreds of thousands into New Haven for city bridge construction projects.
The measure approved funding for the following:
Implementation of the plan to repair the Ferry Street Bridge in New Haven, which includes engineering, construction and inspection: up to $6,000,000.
Repairs and improvements on the Orange Street Bridge over Mill River in New Haven: up to $789,000.
Repairs to the Chapel Street bridge over West River in New Haven: up to $622,000.
Repairs to the Pond Lily Bridge over West River in New Haven: up to $366,000.
"I am very pleased at the outcome of the initiative. These funds are very important for transportation projects in the city," Rep. Candelaria said. "In an uncertain year as we have had, where much of the country has encountered poor economic forecasts, I am pleased to say that I will be able to bring home some funding for New Haven."
The State Bond Commission, chaired by Governor John Rowland, must approve all bonding before it is distributed to towns.
