REP. CANDELARIA SUPPORTS DEMOCRATIC BUDGET
Says the Democratic budget proposal could provide more aid for New Haven
State Representative Juan Candelaria (D-New Haven) recently joined fellow members of the General Assembly’s Appropriations Committee to announce adjustments to Governor Rell’s original 2006 Budget proposal. Rep. Candelaria says the Committee’s budget proposal would provide more aid to the City of New Haven than the governor’s version.
“The Democratic budget proposal would mean more funding for New Haven. It would restore funding to some of the programs the governor chose to cut and would save programs like HUSKY Adult health insurance benefits that our residents need,” Rep. Candelaria said.
The Democratic budget proposes:
Property tax relief through a $50 million increase in ECS funding
Protection for HUSKY health insurance benefits for adults
Restoring funding for health services to legal immigrants
Eliminating Medicaid co-pays
“This budget looks out for Connecticut’s most needy residents while considering the needs of the rest of the state. I am confident in the Appropriations Committee budget proposal,” Rep. Candelaria said.
The Appropriations Committee approved the budget proposal on Monday.
Rep. Candelaria represents the 95th General Assembly District. He is Vice Chair of the Commerce Committee, and a member of the Appropriations and Judiciary Committees.
