REP. CANDELARIA APPOINTED TO SERVE
Speaker of the House James Amann (D-Milford) today announced that State Representative Juan Candelaria (D-New Haven) has been appointed to serve on the Education Committee of the Council of State Government’s Eastern Regional Conference.
The Education Committee works with state officials from the 15 Eastern Regional Conference member jurisdictions to provide a policy forum, a vehicle for sharing best practices, and structure for advocacy on education issues affecting the states in the Northeast. The program is led by a 15 member steering committee and staffed by an education policy consultant.
“I am confident that Juan will work successfully with other state leaders to put the best ideas and solutions into practice, that in the end will bring benefits to all,” Speaker Amann said.
“As Vice Chair of our Higher Education Committee, I find it to be a perfect fit for me, and I look forward to working with all the other members across the board in sharing ideas and getting meaningful input for the benefit of our constituencies. I am delighted to have been appointed to serve on this committee,” Rep. Candelaria stated.
Established in 1933, the Council of State Governments is a non-partisan, public, non-profit organization that provides information, research, and training to state officials in all 50 states and U.S. territories.
Rep. Juan Candelaria serves the 95th Assembly District of New Haven. He is Assistant Majority Leader, Vice Chair of the Higher Education and Employment Advancement Committee, and a member of the Appropriations and Regulations Review Committees.
