STATE REP. CANDELARIA URGES PARTICIPATION IN CONCERT
WITH NEW HAVEN FRIENDS OF HAITI COMMITTEE
Meeting scheduled for next Tuesday
State Representative Juan Candelaria (D-New Haven), is pleased to announce that as a result of a previous organizational meeting a committee entitled New Haven Friends Haiti was created consisting of local elected officials, community and business leaders.
A follow up meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, January 26 at the Spanish American Merchant's Association (SAMA) headquarters on 258 Grand Avenue in New Haven to organize a fundraising concert.
"The good will is there and I once again urge our community leaders to join us next Tuesday to create a successful event that will raise funds for earthquake ravaged Haiti," Rep. Candelaria said. "The first meeting was the beginning and now it's time to put our ideas together for the benefit of our Haitian brothers and sisters."
Concert planners are looking for community artists that can provide ideas that include music, dance or any other art form for a marathon concert to raise funds.
"Even if you are not a performer, we need people that are willing to donate some of their time," Rep. Candelaria added. "Everyone, no matter what they can contribute, will be integral to this fundraiser."
