REP. DILLON ANNOUNCES $182 MILLION IN FUNDING FOR GATEWAY
State Representative Patricia Dillon (D-New Haven) announced the State Bond Commission is expected to approve funding for Gateway Community College. The $182,730,057 grant will fund the construction of a state-of-the-art campus on Church Street in New Haven.
Rep. Dillon, a member of the Legislature's Higher Education Committee, said, "I was part of the New Haven legislative delegation that prioritized this project years ago, bringing it this far has been a team effort. I am excited the Bond Commission appears ready to act on this funding later this week."
The grants will fund the construction of the consolidated Gateway Community College, located at 2 and 20 Church Street, New Haven. The project includes the construction of a 360,000 square foot campus, consisting of a new learning resource center, general purpose classrooms, computer classrooms, biomedical labs, nursing classrooms and early childhood education space. A new 600 car parking garage is also part of the project.
The State Bond Commission meets Friday (October 30th) at 10:30 a.m. in room 1-E of the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.
Representative Patricia Dillon has served the 92nd House District of New Haven since 1985. Rep. Dillon is an Assistant Majority Whip of the Connecticut House of Representatives and serves on the Appropriations, Judiciary, and Higher Education committees.
