The state Office of Injury Prevention has a mission – reduce the incidences of accidental injury and injury from violence in Connecticut. That mission was cut short due to federal inaction, but there is language in the Appropriations Committee budget to authorize positions in the OIP.
The Office of Injury Prevention was established in 1993, through enabling legislation authored by Rep. Dillon. The current proposed change to OIP was recommended to the full Appropriations Committee by the subcommittee Rep Dillon chairs and which oversees the DPH budget.
