Earlier this year the Greater New Haven Transit District raised its rates by 40 cents per ride, from $2.60 per ride to $3.00, bringing the cost of a round-trip journey up to $6 for programs like MYRide in New Haven. The GNHTD Foundation created It Makes Cents to collect donations to offset the fare increase.
State Representative Pat Dillon joined U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro and U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy to highlight the It Makes Cents campaign to help seniors affected by recent GNHTD fare increases. The event was featured in the New Haven Register.
