According to the New Haven Independent, the state Department of Transportation reports 90 accidents over a 2-year span along a portion of Forest Road between Willard Street and West Elm in Westville.
Rep. Dillon is currently researching a package of bills to improve safety on Forest Road.
“A truck ban isn't enough but it's a start,” Rep. Dillon said.
Rep. Dillon noted Forest Road was originally a horse path before the advent of automobiles.
“Forest Road might be good for a horse and carriage,” said Rep. Dillon. “It was never designed to handle modern traffic.”
Rep. Dillon said a ban on trucks is just one of the measures that could be implemented immediately to improve safety along the winding road.
