Representative Patricia Dillon expressed serious concerns over the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s decision to back off its proposal on stormwater runoff to reduce pollution.
“I am asking Commissioner Rob Klee to explain the impact of this rollback on the West River,” Rep. Dillon said.
Rep. Dillon noted that Combined Sewer Overflows in the West River are higher than the CSOs in New Haven Harbor.
“Clean water and efforts to improve the the quality of the West River have been kept alive by the community and the hard work of local advocates,” Dillon said.
Some of the most troubled parts of the West River in New Haven are in the poorest neighborhoods.
“All children deserve access to clean water,” Dillon said.
