REP. GODFREY WELCOMES FUNDING FOR DANBURY
State grants coming for municipal dams and Western
Representative Bob Godfrey (D-Danbury) is pleased to announce that the State Bond Commission has approved funding for construction and repair of the Tarrywile and Lake Wackawana dams. The $343,084 grant will finance flood control and erosion repair projects at the two dams.
"We are working to improve our flood preparedness, safety and further enhancement of Tarrywile Park our flood control system is in need of this overhaul," Rep. Godfrey said. "This infusion of cash is what we need to get these projects moving."
The Bond Commission has also approved more than $2 million for projects at Western Connecticut State University including: funds for the relocation of athletic fields, improvements and renovations to various buildings on campus, and other capital projects.
"The more we invest in our state colleges and universities, the more we get back in return," Rep. Godfrey said. "The athletic field at Western is being moved over by the O’Neill Center to open up space for a state-of-the-art science building in the midtown campus. This is an excellent investment of state funds."
These bond authorizations are the latest of over a quarter-of- a-billion dollars that Rep. Godfrey has secured for his hometown of Danbury.
