REP. HADDAD NAMED TO NATIONAL PANEL
State Representative Gregory Haddad (D-Mansfield, Chaplin), Vice-chair of the General Assembly’s Commerce Committee, has been appointed by Speaker of the House Christopher G. Donovan (D-Meriden) to serve on the Council of State Governments’ (CSG) International Committee.
CSG’s International Committee was created to help states deal with increasing global competition, particularly with business export promotion and exchange programs. The Committee’s mission includes tracking trends in the global economy such as trade and education that impact states.
“Ensuring that Connecticut is competitive in our global economy is an ongoing challenge that demands staying on top of emerging trends and policies,” Haddad said. “Being able to work closely with colleagues from across the country will help me better represent the residents of Connecticut.”
Rep. Haddad is serving his first term in the Legislature representing the 54th Assembly District. In addition to leadership responsibilities with the Commerce Committee, he is also a member of the Appropriations and Higher Education committees.
“Rep. Haddad’s state and local government experience will allow him to represent Connecticut well as he undertakes this new challenge,” Speaker Donovan said. “This is a unique opportunity for Gregg to work with leaders from across the nation and exchange ideas.”
Established in 1933, the Council of State Governments is a non-partisan, non-profit organization that provides information, research, and training to state officials in all 50 states to promote region-wide initiatives, facilitate inter-branch cooperation, advocate on state-federal issues, and educate policymakers and the public on regional priorities.
