Over a dozen college students from four Connecticut universities testified in favor of SB 636, An Act Concerning Affirmative Consent in front of the legislature’s Higher Education Committee. The bill seeks to clarify school policies about what ‘consent’ is and would require that affirmative consent standards be in place at all Connecticut colleges, public and private. Students from Yale lauded the affirmative consent policies and programs already in place at their school, and spoke about the ways in which a “yes means yes” standard helps promote safe and healthy sexual relationships in college students.
